If desired, take HOV Lane out of Houston via Highway 290 North. To get on HOV Lane outbound, from the 610 North Loop, exit TC Jester and stay on the feeder road. You will cross TC Jester (East and West) and will curve around the freeway where Highway 290 separates from 610.

Stay in the left lane. At Dacoma Street (the first street around the curve), make a U-Turn under the freeway. This will seem counter-intuitive because it turns you back toward downtown. Once under the freeway, take the HOV lane entrance ramp on the left. You will immediately be turned around and will be facing outbound.

The HOV lane moves and will take you well past Beltway 8 avoiding much of the traffic. Remember that you must have 2+ people to take the HOV lane and no trailers are allowed. Take Highway 290 North toward Hempstead. At Hempstead, take Highway 6 toward Bryan/College Station/Navasota. At avasota, watch for exit for Highway 90. Exit and turn right onto Highway 90.

Travel on Highway 90 toward Anderson and on to Roan's Prairie. At Roan's Prairie, there is a BIG stop sign (and a new Valero Station at the corner). Set your odometer NOW! Continue straight on Highway 90 for 7.7 miles. Entrance is on the right with a white fence, gray gate, blue-roof barn in distance. At night, watch for a flashing light (that's the Troop 514 welcome sign...) See attached map

Camp Karankawa is located on FM 1459, 4 miles Southwest of West Columbia on Highway 35, and 4 miles Northwest on FM 1459. The camp is on the Northeast, right hand side of the highway. Wait for the sign at the camp entrance road.
